I'm buying a bright tight red long sleeve to go under a tight black T shirt.

I've got black very thin pants.

1. Do I need to have actual 'blue' jeans instead of black?
2. Are thinner pants desirable for leg separation?

Black should be OK for pants. Blue or green can be useful if it makes a better contrast with background in your environment. It is recommended that you avoid light colors for clothes, to minimize shadows, especially if your lighting is not very uniform. For example, white pants or white shoes are not recommended.

Very thin pants are not necessary. Our software is optimized for working with typical average jeans or pants (see our video for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK2H-9HhAVA ). ( But you should avoid bell-bottoms like http://www.intermoda.ru/uploads/citat/1 ... /anons.jpg ).

Just wanted to say, I shot a session outdoor cause it was all we had at the moment, and because of the cloudy day and the dark color of the grass, we ended using white shoes to have better tracking. Black shoes were too close to the ground color. I guess it's the only kind of exception to this rule...

I wear white socks in my capture sessions and this seems to work well for me. Plus, under bright lights, shadows don't appear much against pure white socks. (This test video I posted a few months ago is an example.)

Contrast with minimal shadows is the key, so the ideal clothing depends on lighting conditions and environment (background and floor.)
