I couldn't find information about the express version. Is this a version that will be targeted to hobbyists/non commercial ?

I'm not a spokesperson for iPi but my understanding is that iPi Express is a 'Kinect-only' version of iPi Studio, as opposed to the Standard version which includes both PS3 Eye and Kinect support. (Well, I think so anyway; the Kinect beta is part of the current build of the Standard version. It's probably not officially listed because the feature is still in beta.)

In another post it was mentioned that the expected price for Express could be between $300 and $400, and it depended on how well the system works and how many features they decide to ship with in version 1.0.

I don't know if they offer student pricing, but if you're a student it wouldn't hurt to write to them directly about that.

Express version will support only Kinect. You will be able to use it for commercial projects, too. You can find more info in our Wiki:
