Hi folks:

How is video structured for input into DMC? I've seen the video from my PS3 cameras, but I'd like to experiment with some HD video I have. Is the video in a single AVI file with the frames in each camera next to each other like this:

Cam1(Frame1), Cam2(Frame1),...,CamN(Frame1), Cam1(Frame2),Cam2(Frame2), ...,CamN(Frame2),etc.

Or, can the individual camera videos be submitted to DMC and DMC will read all of them individually?

I tried searching the forum, but the search engine didn't search due to commonality of the word video.

Thanks,

Michael 2

iPi DMC expects a single video stream with all the camera images integrated. This is true whether you use PS3 cameras, web cams, or other camera sources, and it's normally how iPi Recorder outputs the file. (Kinect output is different but that's only one camera of course.) If you have separate source videos you will need to composite the streams into one stream using a program like AfterEffects.

IMO, you'd be wasting your time going this route but if you do go through with it I am curious to hear what you learn.

Good luck!

G.

P.S., There was some info about using separate camera source and making an iPi compatible video from it somewhere in the forum. It's pretty old info though so I'm not sure it's still relevant. Give me a minute to find it.

Also, look back through the Community Tutorials section. There may be other topics like this one.

Thanks Greenlaw:

Yea, that's the post I was looking for. The search engine on this forum is too restrictive to allow good searches on common terms. OK, it looks like the video has the cameras side by side so 2 cameras with 1440x1080 HD video would be joined into one video with a 2880x1080 frame size. I remember seeing a huge frame size in ipi recorder. Also, the ipi guys had a post about using HD video.

I may play around with this after I finish my film project in April.

Thanks for the info,

Michael
