Hello everyone,

I've just sat here for 25mins waiting for the calibration software to finish working on just one image. Any way that I can either set up a better calibration image or speed up the process?

My laptop isn't exactly great but I wanted to test the software out..

Calibration speed is dependent on two things: the length of the video and the speed of your graphics card.

My Calibration videos typically run about a minute and I'm able to get perfect results from it. Anything longer is probably not necessary. To see what my calibration videos look like, go here: iPi Studio Calibration Video

I don't know what kind of graphics card you have in the laptop but, FYI, calibration for a 1 minute video on a quad core desktop using a GTX 460 takes 10 minutes or less, so if you can get access to something along those lines I would highly recommend it.

I just realized I misread your post. You're talking about running the Camera Calibration Tool and not actually running a scene calibration in iPi DMC, aren't you? I don't know what kind of cameras you're using but if you're using PS3 Eye, Logitech, or Kinect, running the tool is completely unnecessary. That tool is meant for cameras where the FOV is unknown.

IMO, it's a waste of time to test iPi Studio with any camera other than the PS3 Eye or Kinect.

Thank you for the information! I was also wondering how i'm meant to record using the Kinect through the ipiRecording software? I have software and drivers that allow me to see the Kinect's camera through its own software but not on any others e.g. ipiRecorder and ManyCam.

Any ideas?

The latest iPi Recorder Installer installs PrimeSense drivers from the developers of the Kinect. You may need to uninstall older drivers if you're having trouble getting the Kinect to work with Recorder. I think there's info about this in the Wiki.

Also, once you get this working, calibration for the Kinect is unnecessary. All you need is a second or two of clean video at the head of the footage.
