Will this update with new copy protection lock it to one computer? If so I have to be real choosey on which computer I have DMC on.
I would hope I can either:
1. Install on two personal systems, i.e., workstation and mobile computer, so long as I only run one at a time.
...or...
2. Be able move my license around as needed. (i.e., be able to activate/deactivate.)
...or...
3. Allow multiple installs but have a server check from when online that it's not running on more than one system at a time.
I use a variety of software which use any of the above, but the most flexible for me has been #3. Some software that uses this method are Luxology Modo and Pilgway 3D-Coat.
The second method has caused me problems on a number of occasions, like when I have a system failure or HD crash and the license server won't let me activate even if the install is on the same computer it was originally licensed to, in which case I have to contact the developer to reset my license. Adobe, Toon Boom, and Marvelous Designer use this method.
Then of course there's the trusty dongle. I have several programs that use dongles and I don't mind them but they do add to the cost. Also, in the case of iPi DMC, they will take up a USB port that may be needed by a camera.
I'm curious to hear what the new license scheme will be. FWIW, I've been satisfied with how it works for me now; it's been flexible and unobtrusive.
