I have downloaded the iPi Desktop Motion Capture software and installed it.
Whenever I try to run it, the splash / startup screen comes up, then a Microsoft.NET Framework dialog box comes up. However, it apparently does not have sufficient time to draw before it crashes, because immediately after the window frame is drawn, I get a "iPi Studio has stopped working" error.

I checked around on the forum, and saw this post.
I do have an integrated Intel chip, but I am running Direct X11 which supports Shader 5.0, according to the Steam support site. I would think even if my graphics card does not support it via hardware, it should be able to handle it via software (just much more slowly).

Anybody know if this is the problem?
Is there a way to fix this through software?

Sorry but iPiStudio is not compatible with Intel graphics. Intel graphics still have multiple problems with precision and driver bugs. The Steam link you provided does not state that your Intel graphics card is compatible with SM 5.0 or DX11, it just lists existing DirectX versions. No existing Intel graphics solution provides SM5.0 / DX11 compatibility. Intel is actually still struggling to provide adequate DX 9 support.

Intel graphics is painfully slow anyway. iPiStudio is a GPGPU application, that means it relies on graphics card for calculations. You need a gaming-class NVIDIA or AMD/ATI card for comfortably running this software.

Hello,
I just downloaded Ipisoft studio to test with the kinect. I installed the software fine, but I can't get the software to work past the splash screen. It crashes on me every time. I am using a geforce 430 graphics card. Is this card compatible?

I do not know if it is supported, but I've tested the software with Mobility Radeon 5850 for a couple of weeks now and according to this comparison my display adapter is much faster than yours, and yet it is painfully slow for using iPi. And to get used to this software, you need to play with it. At least I cannot see any other alternative. So, 30 days (free testing period) limit is approaching a little bit too fast... I might not even learn how to do a certainly successful calibration in that time.

I can't get the software to work past the splash screen so I can't test anything out. I used to use a geforce 9800gt and this software worked just fine. Of course that was a few years ago and a few upgrades ago so who knows. I just need to understand why this software keeps crashing on me.
