If you look at the version comparison here: http://ipisoft.com/products.php

You'll see that Basic does support Kinect. You shouldn't have to do anything other than have a Kinect plugged in. However, make sure you're using a recent version of the iPiSoft apps.

If you do have a Kinect plugged in, the Recorder won't see it unless the Kinect is plugged into a power outlet. The Kinect that comes with an Xbox bundle does not include the adapter cable, so you'd have to buy it separately. But, if you bought the Kinect as a individual purchase, it should have come with the power adapter cable.
