I'm also unable to import a target character.
FBX and collada DAE are not working, getting the error:

Cannot open file "e:\char_rig.fbx"
The given key was not present in the dictionary.

I'm guessing that's not correct, as I can easily transfer this rig back and forth between Max and Maya.
(Windows 7, Build 1.2.0.120 if that's any help)

Please let me know if I misunderstand. Do you mean the ipi armature character or import target characters?

clicking 'Import target character' button and choosing a file in iPi Studio 1.2.0.120 results in error 'The given key was not present in the dictionary.' for any kind of dae/fbx/bvh input file. Build 1.0 worked with those models perfectly (except for .fbx support that was not implemented at that stage).

This bug is fixed in 1.3.0.121 version of iPi Studio. Please update the software. And sorry for this problem.
